New resources for creators on Instagram & Tik Tok

This week, rival video sharing companies Instagram and Tik Tok have both revealed new professional portals within their apps to provide education to content creators.

Instagram’s Professional Dashboard has been rolled out to Business and Creator accounts this week and can be found by tapping the blue text on an account’s profile page that reads View Professional Dashboard.

Inside the dashboard, users can find tools and resources to help grow their account or business based on past post performance and with expert tips from Instagram’s business account support team at @instagramforbusiness. The are three key sections:

Track Your Performance: This section details past performance and links out to the Insights tab so users can view feed, Stories and shop data super easily.

Grow Your Business: Show IG the money! Learn how to boost posts for paid reach and engagement and learn how to get involved in Instagram Shopping. We predict here at HG that Instagram Shopping is going to be huge in 2021 and this is a great first indication that Instagram are ramping up this area of the platform.

Stay Informed: Using the Guides feature of the app (head to the + create post button to play around with it), Instagram has collated their best tips on various topics in easy to access collections.

Tik Tok’s Creator Portal is available at https://www.tiktok.com/creators/creator-portal/en-us and is more of a blog style hub for users to consult instead of in-app like Instagram. Tik Tok users keen to dive into tips and tricks can also follow the @creatorportal profile.

Users can easily find specific collections filled with advice from the platform’s experts, from tips on getting started to working your way around post analytics and discovering their Creator Fund. There’s something for every Tik Tok user whether they are an influencer or merely sharing with friends.

Instagram and Tik Tok seem to be gunning to be like one another, with Tik Tok having a Live function to compete with Instagram and Reels recently launching on IG. Will 2021 be the year one takes it all?
